I had such a blast this weekend in Chicago with my friends. I have not laughed this hard in a long time. My friends were just absolutely hysterical! The trip started off with five of us flying out Friday afternoon from Cleveland to Chicago. We arrived around 4:30 and headed to "The W" where the girls were staying. I was staying with my friend Megan, however, she was still returning from Boca Raton. I hung out with the girls until we all met up later. That night we went to Lynne's to all help out with the shower preparations. We all helped out in making the appetizer and desserts. I must say for the first time, I tried Texas sheet cake. Yum! I guess it's a household tradition at Lynne's, and it was quite appropriate as the dessert since Lynne will be moving to Texas with her new husband after the wedding. Saturday was a crazy day, Megan and I woke up at the crack of dawn to run more errands for Lynne. The shower was held at the party room in Lynne's high rise condo building in downtown Chicago. Was I able to watch the Buckeyes game you ask? Sara and I were shamelessly texting our hubby's and my sister to try to get score updates. Next door to our party room, was a theater room where a group of Michigan alumni had rented out to watch the game. Every now and then you would hear screams and shouts coming from their room. It was driving me crazy not knowing what was going on! Finally after the gifts were open, they put the game on in our room as well. Thank god! Saturday night we are went out and had a fabulous time. Megan and I could only make it to midnight, we were exhausted. The others went to another bar and stayed out until 3am! Needless to say, I had to fly back with several hung over friends the following morning. It was the best time, I was literally in tears listening to Anne and Liberty's crazy antics from the night before. I honestly think they were still drunk on the flight home! Gotta love'em though. Enjoy the pics!
is getting married this February so we are having her shower out in Chicago where she currently lives. I am flying out Friday afternoon with a few friends. I am still struggling with what to pack. Chicago has always been a few trends ahead of Cleveland so I am sure my stand by's are just not up to par there. I have learned though in prior visits, when in doubt, just pack a lot of black and cute jeans! :) I may have to hit the mall before I leave just to see if I can find something cute. As excited as I am about my friend's shower, it is at the same time as the OSU game!!!!! It's at 2pm Chicago time, pretty much right at kickoff. I am hoping a TV will be nearby!!!
Hello, I made this recipe for Jeff this weekend and he loved it. It's one of our winter favorites...
Ingredients 1 package lean ground turkey meat 1 packet of Durkee Chili seasoning 1/2 cup of water 1 can of red kidney beans 1 can of Del-Monte crushed tomatoes with onions and green peppers 2 tablespoons of chopped onions 3 tablespoons of chopped green peppers
1) Brown ground turkey in a large skillet until broken apart, drain fat if any. 2) In a large pot, add all ingredients together, mix well. 3. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for about an hour.
I just love watching the show "House Hunters" on HGTV. There really isn't much that I don't love about HGTV. I have been having such a great time researching all of the neighborhoods in our area recently, I feel like I could have my own show! This house is probably my favorite so far. I just love the porch. I have been dying to find the time to drive by it. By the time I get home from work, it is already dark outside so I will have to wait for a weekend. My latest work goal however is to get my lazy butt out of bed by 6:30 so I can arrive to work between 7:45 and 8am. So far I was able to do it today, let's see how long this lasts! I really want to start getting home a little earlier than I have been lately. Tomorrow I am hosting our bookclub meeting. I have been trying to put a appetizer menu together all night. I received the latest Kraft recipe magazine in the mail this week. It had so many yummy appetizer recipe's in there for the upcoming holidays. I am thinking of making the spinach artichoke dip. Yum!! There are seven of us in bookclub so we rotate our meetings between all of our homes. The rule of our bookclub is that the current host has to pick the next book. I picked "Summer Sisters" by Judy Blume. I just loved reading Judy Blume when I was a young girl, who can forget "Are you there God? It's me Margaret". I have to say, I really love our bookclub group. It's pretty much more girl talk and wine drinking than anything, but we do technically discuss the book. This time we are reading "Lipstick Jungle" by Candace Bushnell. I am hoping to finish it up tonight.
Not really! It is so weird seeing our Halloween decorations covered in snow! Hopefully it will not stick around much longer since the weather for Election Day is predicted to be in the 60's. I guess it is to be expected in Cleveland. Jeff's Dad is back at the Cleveland Clinic again. He failed his stress test on Thursday so they rushed him back there via ambulance. He seems to be doing well, but apparently they read something in the EKG that made them re-admit him. It has been such a roller coaster ride for my poor husband. Hopefully this is just a small bump in the road and he will be back home again soon. Tonight I am doing shopping and dinner at Crocker Park with my sister's. My one real sister, Debbie, and my two new sister-in-laws, Stephanie and Amanda. Both of my brother's got married this year so I gained two new sisters! Lucky me! We are all getting together for a little girl time. Of course, we are making a pit stop at Chammps to watch the Buckeyes. Nothing much to report on the TTC journey, I am on Day 25 with absolutely no symptoms whatsoever. I guess all is not lost until AF arrives so my fingers and toes are crossed!!! Have a great weekend!!!
