My 100th post!

I can't believe it's my 100th post, I often thought of deleting this blog but it has really grown to be important to me. I love looking back and seeing how far we have come and to remember all of our fond house memories (yeah!) and our ongoing struggle with infertility (boo!). We are so very blessed to be in the home of our dreams, that we built together, and has both of what we have always wanted in a home. It makes me appreciate our new home all that much more looking back to all of the issues that we had with our first home. The funny thing is that we still drive by our old home every now and then since it is just down the street from us. We love to see what they have done to it. So far we have been happy to see that they have been keeping up with the landscaping and have been making improvements. We put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into ripping out all of the overgrown bushes and vines and definitely created a nice blank slate for them to work with. We did notice that they somehow seemed to break a front window (typical bad luck for that house as you know) and the shed door appears a little worse for wear, which makes us even more grateful to be out of there. It is so much nicer to be on this side of our housing adventure. I would much rather watch it from afar and not have to live there anymore!!!!!
We had our third IUI with Femera last week. Although we are hopeful, we are trying to remain positive and try not to put all my eggs in one basket so to speak. We have three more of these if this one doesn't work out. There will be six in total, so we are just hoping one will work for us. We were really upset about the first two not working but we now know that it's a 10% success rate for each one so hopefully one out of the six will work for us. Femera seems to be decent as far as fertility meds go. I have heard the horrible nightmares of clomid side effects and haven't really experienced any of it which is one reason why my doctor is prescribing this over clomid. I did gain a few pounds like I knew I would but I guess it is all for a good cause!! I did slack off the last few months on working out since I was so nervous about interfering with conception, however, not working out only increased my stress level.
We had our annual summer neighborhood picnic yesterday. We had such a great time drinking and socializing with the neighbors. We had to take the party inside to a nearby neighbors house once the storms hit. We didn't end up heading home until after 9pm completely drunk and exhausted!!! It was so nice to finally hang out with our neighbors, it is such a great group, and we all want the same thing. A sense of community.

More Grommet drape options

I found these babies on the Bed Bath & Beyond website, AND they come in a brown and red two tone!!! I can have the best of both worlds!!! I am going to have to check out the store and see if they carry them, I would to see them in person.

House Update

I finally had a chance today to take a few pictures of the changes I have made around the house. The changes are not monumental by any means, I am still trying to decide whether or not I want red or cappuccino as an accent color in the great room/kitchen, but nonetheless, they are changes.
First, the awesome PB knockoff mirror is up and looks fabulous!!! It will look even better with new lamps in the space and not the weird 1970's lamps from Jeff's parents that we still can not seem to escape from. How they even made it to this new house without "breaking" during the move is shocking enough.

Second, we have a new bed. My parents were very generous to give us their new king bed. It's extremely comfortable and we have always wanted a new King bed. We have been sleeping on a full since we have been married and much as we love to cuddle, it was very close sleeping quarters. My only issue with this bed is that it is enormous, even for our new bedroom. I am having issues with the size, I can't decide if it is just too big for the bedroom. We are most likely going to make it work and right now it looks ridiculous with our old full comforter on it. I am sure with a new bedroom set (I am praying for that soon) and a new king comforter, it will really look nice in our room.

The find of the year!

I have been lusting after the Pottery Barn mirror ever since we moved into this house. I could not justify spending $700 for it so I hear from the Nesties on the D&R board that Homegoods carried a great knock off. They weren't kidding! I decided to head up there on my lunch break and went straight to the back where the pictures are kept. I couldnt' believe it, it was there and it was huge!!!!! I could barely lift the thing myself, there was no way thing was getting into my car without some serious help. So I did what any other creative shopper would do, I hid it! I found a bunch of other tall mirrors and leaned them all against the coveted mirror. I prayed no one would find it and begrudgingly went back to work. After work, Jeff and I headed to his brother's to pick up a king bed frame and I asked him if he would mind stopping off at Homegoods on our way home. As soon as we arrived at the store, I ran back to the picture section and there was my mirror, still covered up! Praise God! Trying to get the thing into the car was a whole other story. Of course we already had the king bed frame in there so we did some serious rearranging for at least 20 minutes. I was about to abort the mission when we finally wedged it in there and slammed the door. Success!!! I can't wait to hang this thing up, it's the perfect piece for our great room. We have tall ceilings so I want to hang it vertically to accent the height. Pictures to come!

Here is what it looks like from the Pottery Barn catalog:

Which curtains do you like?

I am back to the curtains again. It's like one vicious circle, lamps, curtains, pillows, start over. Here are three curtain options that I have been trying to decide on for our great room/kitchen. Which do you like?

West elm Grommet drape

Target bi-color drape

Pottery Barn grommet drape, I like the color options: wheat, clay, ivory, or espresso.
