Nursery Progress

Sunday, October 04, 2009

I just love my husband, he was up until 2:30am Friday night finishing up the nursery. We used Sherwin Williams Harmony paint which is their low VOC option and shortly found out that you need two coats when using low VOC paint. Sherwin Williams was also able to color match the Benjamin Moore Sweet Taffy that I chose from the Pottery Barn Catalog. The Sweet Taffy color is the exact color of the lightest polka dot in her sheets:

I love how it turned out, it's a little lighter than in these pictures and it will look beautiful when it all comes together.

We are still torn on what furniture to buy for her room. We really like the Munire Essex collection and also the Hartford set from JCPenney. They look identical to each other, it's all a matter of which one we pick. Their are pros and cons to both. I also plan on changing out the knobs to nickel, I am not a fan of the wooden knobs on either set. The JCPenney set is sight unseen though which has us a little concerned. I really need to make up my mind by this weekend. If anyone owns either of these sets, I would love to hear from you and what your experience has been.

Munire Set - We would be ordering this in white. The dresser pictured is not the dresser we would be ordering, it would be the combo dresser similar to the dresser pictured in the JCPenney set below.

JCPenney Hartford - We would be also be ordering this in white:

  1. Karen!! It looks beautiful! What a pretty shade of pink. LOVE it and can't wait to see the finished product. FWIW, we ordered Munire. I could not order something sight unseen. We went with baby bargains recommendation on the Munire. We also went with the double dresser, not the combo based on the feedback online and instore - we were told the combo does not have as much space and not as easy to organize and the cupboard is only useful during the infant stage. Ours is not in yet though and we ordered it in July, so that might be a deciding factor for you unless you know it is in stock somewhere. Ok, butting out now! Kudos to Dh :)

  2. It's gorgeous! I actually love the look of the combo dresser, and think it would work just fine even as she grows up--if nothing else, the cabinet portion could be used for shoes!

I love the color. We have the Munire Essex in black and we love it. We ordered the crib and the six dresser drawer. I am glad we order the dresser with six because it provides more storage.

  9. Aw!! Congrats, Karen! It looks so cute so far, what a great backdrop for all the incredibleness you will put in this room. Your H is awesome for staying up to paint (maybe he's practicing for those late nights when the baby comes!!). I'm psyched you are getting the furniture in white, it'll look so good.

  10. It's looking great so far. I think I like the JC Penny set better. I like how the crib is flush to the floor.

  12. It looks so cute. I would have a hard time deciding on a crib. I do like the idea of a longer changing table/dresser.

  14. Hey Karen, thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting(again)! I have been over here to visit a few times and am loving the nursery. My husband is a Sherwin-Williams "paint professional" - HA! When I saw the latest PB magazine, I saw the Sweet Taffy color and thought of you. Love both sets of furniture but I am partial to the dark wood since everything in my house is dark wood.
