Amanda and Jason's Baby Shower

My brother and his wife are expecting twin girls this June!!! I am so thrilled at the prospect of becoming an aunt of twins!!! These little girls are loved so much already, we can't wait to meet them! I really hope they end up with Amanda's beautiful red hair, how precious would that be? Jason and Amanda flew in from Arkansas this past weekend for their baby shower, Cleveland/Youngstown style. Even though over a foot of snow fell, the shower was a major success. They received so many beautiful things, I am not sure how they are going to get it all back to Arkansas!

The shower was also another milestone for Jillian. I found out the hard way how impossible it is to get ready for a shower or anywhere with a newborn. You would think three hours of advanced prep time would be sufficient. Nope! By the time I got myself ready, Jillian ready, and packed everything in the car from gifts to my baby bag, it was time to feed her again!

The shower also marked a Mommy victory with Jillian. I was actually able to give Jill a bottle for the first time myself at the shower. I was a nervous wreck trying to figure out how I was going to feed her. This was the first time she would be fed in a public place and I was so nervous on how it would go. I couldn't exactly start breast feeding in the middle of the shower so I brought all sorts of bottles and bags of frozen milk. After scoping out the restaurant that the shower was being held in, I decided there was just no place for me to breast feed her so a bottle was definitely in order. I have never given her one myself because I wasn't sure how she would react. Another obstacle in our baby feeding adventure was finding somewhere to thaw out the frozen breast milk and warm up the bottle. I was able to have a server bring me a large glass of warm water from their coffee pot to submerge the frozen milk in and also found an outlet close to the table that we were sitting at. It all seemed to work out and I was so thrilled. I felt a new sense of freedom knowing that I could now give her a bottle myself without any issues instead of breast feeding her in these types of situations.

My sister and I dressed out girls alike for the shower. How precious are these two? I am sure this will be the first event of many where they are dressed a like. I have a feeling they are going to be best friends just like we are!!!

Hanging out at the shower with my other brother's wife, Steph, cousin Amy, and my sis! There are a lot of women in this family!

This picture of the girls cracks me up! It's like Nicole is saying "Don't worry Jill, I know how this thing works, I'll get you out of here!"

  1. How fun!

Have you tried giving Jill a cold/room temp bottle? I usually make a bottle before we leave and toss it in the bag since it can be at room temp for 6 hours or so. I was surprised that Lizzy will take it even if it's still pretty cold!

  3. How fun that Jill will have so many girl cousins to be best friends with! Have you tried a Hooter Hider? It makes breast feeding in public super easy! Glad the bottle was a success though. Wish I could tell you it gets easier to get ready with a baby... I'm late everywhere we go!
