My sweet boy! You turned 3 last month. THREE! I don’t know if I can write your letter without tearing up. It's so hard to believe my sweet baby is growing up right before my eyes.
You are at such a fun, adorable stage right now Nicholas. And there isn't a sport that you don't love or try to master. You truly surprise me every day with how gifted you truly are as an athlete. You certainly were blessed with this trait from your Daddy because I know it was not from me :) This is a tough one but if I had to choose your favorite sport, it would have to be basketball. Followed closely by hockey, football and then baseball.
You still point out basketball hoops every where we go and you actually become upset if you see one laying on the ground. "Basketball hoop broke!" you will exclaim from your car seat followed by "Daddy has to fix it!" Apparently Daddy can fix everything in your eyes. With the weather warming up, you are so excited to be able to play basketball outside again with the big kids. You can actually make a shot here and there using the "big boy" hoop set up in our cul de sac. Daddy had to pick you up every time to make a successful shot last Summer, it's amazing just how much you have grown in a year. I can only imagine your ability to play in a few years!
I love that you look up to your big sister Jillian and want to do everything that she is doing, even if it includes watching The Princess and the Frog, My Little Ponies or Cinderella. You are certainly lost when your big sister is at preschool in the mornings and I can only imagine just how lost you will be when Jillian starts Kindergarten in the Fall. You love to tackle your sister ALL OF THE TIME, however, I have also seen a sweet and concerned side too if she is ever hurt or scared. Even though you are the younger brother, the little man in you also shows a protective side when it comes to your big sister. I love that you two are best friends and always look out for one another.
I remember three being the age where I could finally trust Jillian to play by herself and not have to worry about what she was doing every minute of the day and this is exactly where we are at now with you. You can finally be trusted to play upstairs with your sister while I do the dishes or the laundry in another room. It's so nice for both of us to have finally reached this level of independence although I sometimes miss that little boy toddling around the house wanting to chase after his big sister up the stairs.
You are obsessed with Tractors at the moment so a tractor birthday party was the obvious way to go. You always have me drive around the neighborhood looking for one. Good thing we live in a new construction neighborhood and have easy access to all kinds of tractors :) I think the men who drive the tractors in our neighborhood are starting to think I am a little nuts. You have me stop the car so you can watch them intently, it's the price I will pay to see the sweet smile on your face. Every tractor we pass you will declare if it is moving or not, it is beyond cute to hear you say "I see a Tractor! And he is moving!" Tractors that are not moving are just not as exciting to you, buddy.
I wish I could bottle you up at this age forever. And you have such a charming little personality. The cutest thing you say at the moment is "I am mad with you" or "I am mad with Sissy". If you are really mad, you place you hands on your hips and pout your lip out. There is no messing with you when you are in this mood. It cracks me up every time! You definitely have a little temper streak, it's a good thing you are so cute!
Your favorite foods right now are "Daddy Pasta", yogurt and corn. And you absolutely love suckers and popsicles. Your favorite movie is Wreck It Ralph and your favorite TV show is Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
You are Mama's boy and never like to leave my side. EVER. It is adorable that you always want to be my little side kick, however, we are going to have a lot of challenges ahead of us with preschool starting this Fall. You have already told me you do not want to go because you don't want to leave me. Growing up is hard buddy but we will get through it!! Speaking of challenges and growing up, we also need to get you potty trained and finally take away your 'mammie' once and for all.
