Jillian's First Day of Kindergarten

Happy Monday friends!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend :) It's been a little bittersweet over here in my world, my sweet Jillian started Kindergarten a few weeks ago.  It's still so hard to believe I have a baby in elementary school!!!
As you can see, this silly girl was excited to go although I could tell the days leading up to it she was a unsure and excited all at the same time.   She started crawling into our bed in the middle of the night for a little Mommy and Daddy cuddle time which she has NEVER done before so I can only imagine what thoughts were running through her head leading up to her big day.

One thing I do know is that this girl was SO excited to ride the bus.  The bus stop is right outside our home, so Jillian has been watching the kids get on the bus ever since she was a toddler.  The fact that she could finally be like the big kids was just mind blowing to her!

I will never forget that look on her face the moment she realizes the bus is coming. Such an amazing moment as a Mama!  Of course, I cried my eyes out a few seconds later as I watched her grab a neighbor girls hand and walk across the street to board the bus.  We are so blessed to have such amazing neighbors who look out for one another.  It was such a comforting feeling knowing she was in good hands riding the bus with the other neighbor kids.
And like what any normal, civilized Mom would do, I decided to hop in the car and drove up to the school in hopes of getting a glimpse of my sweet girl getting off the bus safely.  Yes, I was "that" Mom :)  She just seemed so little to be riding off on a bus ball y herself and then walk all by herself into a big school.  By the grace of God, we happened to pull into the school right behind her bus and was able to watch her for a few minutes before we completely jammed up the car pool lane.  And she totally rocked it!

After I returned home and Jeff left for work, the house seemed SO quiet and empty!!  It was such a strange feeling for both Nicholas and I.  Neither of us knew what to do with ourselves, it has always been us 3 at home during the day for years.  It definitely took me a few days to get used to our new "normal" and I can now finally say I have gotten my groove back and found my new routine.
Jillian is absolutely LOVING school!  What a relief knowing that she is learning and thriving there every day.  I am truly looking forward to this new adventure with her as a big Kindergartener!  Hope you all had an amazing first few days back to school, I know we did.
