Nicholas's First Day of Preschool

Happy Wednesday friends! I hope you are all having an amazing week.  We are
back to picture perfect Fall weather here in Cleveland which has been wonderful!  If you can believe it, my sweet boy began preschool this Fall and it's still a bit of a shock to me even after a few weeks. I can honestly say that we are no longer considered "new parents" or "in the baby or toddler stage".  I don't know if I should laugh or cry but I certainly feel like I deserve some sort of badge of honor for making it through those early parenting stages safely. LOL! We truly are entering that next stage of parenthood with both of my sweet babies entering school and I am happily embracing these changes and loving our new "normal".

Nicholas has been doing a great job so far with preschool although I was a little nervous in the beginning.  He pretty much told everybody "No" who asked him this Summer if he was excited for school.  He definetly had some anxiety about leaving me but in the end, he did a great job.  I was so proud of him!  A little fussing here and there at home but once we were actually there, he was fine.  Thank goodness! It would have broken my heart to encounter any kind of before school meltdown.

A few things that helped with Nicholas's separation anxiety was the visitation day that was held a few days prior to the first day of school.  I was able to hang out with Nicholas as he got used to his new classroom and got to know his teacher.  I also requested that Nicholas have Jillian's 3 year old preschool teacher whom we loved and was a very familiar face for him.

On Nicholas's first Official Day, we took pictures with the same sign I had made for Jillian for her preschool years.  I will never forget his priceless reaction as he realized all of the fuss and attention was for him.  When I handed him the sign he exclaimed "This is for me?!?" It was so sweet!  He is so used to his Sister experiencing all of the "firsts" and his face completely lit up when he realized it was his turn to be in the spotlight.  It made me realize that all the fuss we do make over these special moments certainly does mean a lot to them.

A few other significant things to mention about this new stage in life is that Mama officially has 5 hours of free time on her hands.  Crazy, I know! I am beyond excited. As sad as I am to see my babies growing up, I would be lying if I didn't admit that I was enjoying this little extra free time.  It's like I don't know what to do first now!  Do I go to Target?  Work out?  Work on my Rodan + Fields business?  Clean something?  Those few hours are over quickly but I try to make them as productive as I possibly can.

Hope you are all having an amazing week friends!!
