What's Up Wednesday ~ August 2017 Edition

Happy Wednesday friends!  I hope you are all having a great week!  It's the last Wednesday of the month which means I am linking up with a few of my favorite girls today... Mel, Shay and Sheaffer for a little What's Up Wednesday.

What We're Eating This Week

With Nicholas starting Kindergarten last week, I thought it would be fun to make a few of his favorite meals leading up to the big day.  My sweet boy is a big fan of shrimp lately so I made him his favorite Shrimp Pasta dinner.

What I Am Reminiscing About

With the start of a new school year a few days ago, I have been reflecting a lot this month about how much my babies have grown.  This is my first experience with a daytime "empty nest" and it is certainly met with bittersweet feelings.  I still feel as if i am in a bit of shock about the whole thing and just trying to find my way.  I am so fortunate that I own a thriving Limelight by Alcone business which I plan on now working full time.

The first day of school printable can be ordered here.

What We've Been Up To

Sports, sports and more sports these days.  Nicholas is back to playing Flag football this Fall and Jillian decided to try cheerleading.

Between the two of them, I have officially entered the "taxi cab" stage of motherhood driving them back and forth to all of our sports activities.  As busy as we are, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Jeff is helping out with coaching this Fall for Nicholas's Flag Football team which should be a lot of fun.  My little guy loves football!

What I Am Reading

OK, so don't laugh but last year I came across my collection of Sweet Valley High books in  our basement and decided that these were the perfect Summer reads.  Crazy?  A little but I can honestly say reading these again has been so rewarding and calming.  I have read books 1-85 since last Summer and still going strong.   They are just fun, easy and quick reads and with little ones, this all about what I can handle at this point.  It's been fun taking a little trip down memory lane this past year.

I also picked up "Get Over Your Damn Self" to read for some business related personal development.  I am loving it so far and looking forward to implementing her ideas into my business.

What I Am Working On

With my new found freedom, I am excited to kick up my Limelight business another notch along with getting back to a regular blogging schedule.  I decided at the beginning of Summer to take a bit of a break from the blogging world knowing that I would not have a lot of time to dedicate to the task.  With both kids now in school full time, I am so excited to get back at it.

What I Am Excited About

Decorating for Fall and Football!  I plan on going through our Fall decor in the next few weeks and also will be hitting up Homegoods.

Our family LOVES football at every level and can't wait to cheer on the Mentor Cardinals, Ohio State and the Browns this Fall.

What I am Wearing

August has certainly been a little milder than normal this year with the temps barely making it out of the 70's these last few weeks.  Certainly not a lot of pool time is to be had, however, it is getting me excited for Fall fashion.  I wore this rust orange top the other day with my Gap skinny jeans, it was the perfect transitional piece.

And I love that I can still wear it with one of my favorite pairs of Summer sandals from Target.

What I am Doing This Weekend

It's Labor Day weekend and we are pretty busy!  Both kids will be performing at the High School football game.  Jillian for cheerleading and Nicholas for Flag Football.  The kids are excited to be a part of the "big kids" football game.  Nicholas also has 2 birthday parties to attend.  At some point, we would love to take a trip down to the Columbus Zoo, hopefully our schedule will allow for it.

What I am Looking Forward To Next Month

We have a rare opportunity to travel to Disneyland next month and to say the kids are excited is an understatement.  I have never been to California so I am just as pumped for our little trip!  If you have been to Disneyland, I would love to hear your recommendations on things that area a "must see".

Hope you all have an amazing Wednesday!

XOXO
Karen
