Friday Favorites

Hello and Happy Friday friends!  Well, we survived another week of social distancing.  I have to admit, there have been some tough moments this week where I have longed for life to return to normal.  Anyone else feeling it this week?  We are still trying to make the best of it and my kiddos have been champs so far through it all.  I can't imagine how tough it must be for them to have their lives flipped upside down without a good explanation.

One thing that has been helping us get through it all and definitely a favorite this week is Disney Plus. I thought it would be a fun treat for the kiddos and signed up for it on a whim a few days into our social distancing.  As a family, we have never been streamers and have always just stuck to good old fashion cable.  We are not big TV people simply because we don't have time to really watch it. LOL! When I do have a few rare minutes to sit down and watch TV, give me some wine and a Hallmark movie and I am good.  Now that we are spending our evenings at home and not at a hockey arena or dance studio, our TV watching habits have changed drastically.  Family Movie nights which were once a rare occasion are now almost every night.  The kids have loved watching their favorite Disney Junior shows from their Toddler and Preschool years along with some new favorites.  Jillian has really gotten a kick out of the Hannah Montana series and we are almost through the first season already.  Disney Plus has definitely brought some smiles and fun to these low key social distancing days.

Another favorite for the kids during this time is the Facebook Messenger App for Kids.  Jillian has been on it for a few years now but I never really encouraged her to use it.  I am trying to delay social media for my little preteen as much as possible, however, Messenger Kids has proved to be GOLD during this social distancing season that we are in.  I have since set up an account for Nicholas and both kids can keep in touch with their friends and cousins without spending hours using my phone.  They both have the app downloaded on their iPads and can chat or video conference with their friends and cousins anytime.  The best thing about it is all conversations, friend requests, etc, have to go through me so I can always monitor what they are doing.  No one can contact my kids unless I am Facebook friends with their parents so it is impossible for random strangers to contact your kids.  This app has been so much fun for them and is perfect during this time!

I saw this quote on Instagram this week and it was definitely a favorite.  Such a great reminder as we navigate these uncertain times.

I have always loved working from home and as amazing as it sounds, trying to do it with kids is a major balancing act and requires a lot of trial and error to see what works best for your family.  I have worked from home at some capacity for 8 years now and I am constantly trying to change up what works for me.  I put together a blog post this week with some helpful tips on trying to successfully work from home.

Friends, I curled my hair for the first time in weeks and it needs to be documented.  It felt amazing and such an important reminder that self care is vital to our mindset, especially now..My cropped jean jacket from Old Navy is only $24, it’s the perfect styling piece that you can wear year round.

I hope you are all having a great weekend and surviving the quarantine life!!
