Jeepers Creepers

So my latest obsession lately is Carter's, specifically their Creepers and Dresses for the Summer. Have you seen them? Super cute!!!

Jillian and I took advantage of the warm spring weather last Friday on my day off and decided to take a trip down to the Aurora Farms outlets. I think I died and went to heaven strolling around the Carter's Outlet. I couldn't believe the selection of dresses, colorful onesies, and those adorable Creeper's. It took every ounce of self control to stay within my budget. I only walked out of their with a few outfits and have been dreaming about going back for more.

Miss Jillian was not impressed as Mommy was by all of the cuteness.

A few of my cute purchases:

Cute little outfit with heart jacket:

Terry cloth jacket outfit:

And look at those shorts!

Like it was made specifically for her:

Where do you shop for your baby's clothing? Do you have a Carter's addiction like me or do you have your own baby clothing obsession?

Jillian is Four Months Old!

My precious Jillian, you are four months old!!! You have changed so much in just these past few weeks that it's hard to remember you as a fragile and delicate newborn. My love for you grows more and more each day. It's hard to imagine life without you and I can't wait to see what else is in store for us this month.

First, and absolutely, foremost this month, you have kicked the swaddle habit!!! I just want to shout it from the roof tops and do cart wheels around our cul-de-sac. This is a HUGE milestone. We have been swaddling you with one arm for about a month now. Some nights that seemed to work, and others, it didn't. It was a constant back and forth struggle all month long which made for many challenging and sleepless nights!!! You officially kicked the habit this weekend by chance. On Friday, you had a major blow out and pooped through your onesie, your jammies, and right through your swaddle. We have been using the Halo Sleepsack with swaddle arms. This has been Mommy's best friend ever since you grew out of the hospital blankets that we originally were swaddling you in. Later that evening as I was getting you ready for bed, I realized that your swaddle was still in the laundry room, unwashed and still full of poop. So I decided to put you to bed unswaddled and prepared myself for a sleepless night. But it wasn't, you only got up once because you kept itching your head and woke yourself up. I gave you the pacifier and you went back to sleep. Since we had so much success that night, we decided to try it again the following night and never looked back. You haven't needed the swaddle since. The swaddle is now washed and tucked away in your drawer.

As you can tell, sleep is a big deal for Mommy, probably because I do not get that much of it. You still are not sleeping through the night and only did once or twice back in month two. You love getting up to eat still at least once or twice a night. Dare I type this, but you have started to stretch out your sleep a little more this past week. You have been having a few five and six hour sleep stretches as opposed to the three to four that you normally do. I also had success twice this week where you woke up around 5am for your second feeding and I was able to get you back to sleep with just one attempt with the pacifier. You must not have been all that hungry!!!! This bought Mommy another hour or so of sleep. This may be the key of breaking you of the habit of the second feeding, definitely so far so good.

Your bedtime routine has been working out great for us and feel that we have a good thing going. You go to bed around 8pm-8:30pm each night and are asleep by 9pm. We have our little routine where we will dress you in your jammies at 8pm and then let you watch your Fisher Price Aquarium in your crib. After two rounds of the Aquarium, you have had enough of it and are ready for your bottle. We then turn on the sound machine which is set to 'Ocean' and will give you a bottle while sitting in your glider. We give you a bottle before bedtime instead of nursing so we know that you are getting enough food to hopefully sustain you for many hours of sleep! Daddy usually gives you the bottle, this is his time to feed and spend time with you. If you are really tired, you will go right to sleep after your bottle. If not, you will fuss a bit in your crib and we end up playing the pacifier game with you for fifteen minutes. We have also gone back to playing your seahorse which still seems to help you drift off to sleep. That seahorse has some amazing powers!

You are still in 0-3 size clothes, however, you just started to wear 6 month sleepers. You also still wear size one diapers and they fit you perfectly, I don't see us going to size twos for at least a few more weeks.

You are starting to laugh a lot more, and every now and then, you will let out the cutest giggle. I just live for those so I am always trying out new silly noises and faces to get you going. I am sure if anyone ever witnessed this, they would think I was a little on the crazy side! I still get your best laughs and giggles while changing you on your changing table.

You are a very laid back baby and not in any hurry to roll over or move just yet. You are finally becoming more comfortable with tummy time and will now lift your head up and look at us instead of just fussing and putting your head on the blanket. You would much rather lay on your back and look at the world around you!

You love your bouncy seat and baby gym. You could swat and pull at your little toys all day. You are finally able to pull the middle toy on your bouncy seat which is the one that makes all of the noise and music. You also love to sit in your bouncy seat and concentrate on your toys, you do this by staring intently at the toys while making a grunting noise. Figuring these things out is serious business, I know! I think you have inherited your Mommy and Daddy's analytical way of thinking. Accounting could very well be in your future too!

You had your four month doctor's appointment last week and you are weighing 13lbs 6oz, and are 24 inches long. Two feet tall! You are in the 50th percentile for all both. Your height has slowed a bit since your last appointment but that could change with your next growth spurt.

Your favorite toys are still your bouncy seat and baby gym. You LOVE your Sophie and will suck on her face all of the time. You also love your winkle and musical cell phone. You are comfortable sitting in your Bumbo seat and will sit there and play with your plastic keys or any other toy I give you.

You still love your bath time but don't kick as much as you used to because your legs are becoming so chunky! You don't let this get you down though and your splashes soak Mommy to the bone once you get those legs going. We currently bathe you in your tub on the bathroom counter, but I am thinking we are going to have to move your tub into the big tub. This way I am not cleaning up ten gallons of water all over the floor after every bath. I am sad to have to do this though because you love staring at yourself in the mirror as you kick.

Daddy mentioned putting together your high chair and jumperoo this weekend so we will see how that goes!!! More fun things for you to learn and explore.

How your have grown:

The Twins are Coming!

I received a text message last night from my sister in law Amanda that she is 3centimeters dilated and 60% effaced. She has been on bed rest for about a week now and had her weekly OB appointment yesterday. I couldn't believe it, I don't think I was that far along until after an hour of a pitocin drip!!! She is 34 weeks right now and both babies are weighing over four pounds. I am so excited for them but hope they stay in just a little longer to grow even stronger. Please pray for a quick and easy delivery for Amanda!!!!

My Laundry Room will never be the same

Do you all remember this post? A pretty french blue laundry room destined to be a tranquil and organized space? Well, think again. I think that ship has sailed. My laundry room has been a hot mess ever since Jillian was born. I just can't seem to get caught up on our laundry. I actually have installed wire shelving since this post, they have provided me with a lot more space to hang all of her cute little clothes.

As a new Mom, I can not get over how crazy expensive Dreft is. Why is that? Anyone know?

I honestly don't even like how it makes Jillian's clothes smell. I know that Dreft isn't supposed to have any dyes or perfumes in it so perhaps that is why I think her clothes just smell stale. I was at Target a few days ago to buy more Dreft and came across Target's Up and Up version.

I decided it was worth a try. I haven't used it yet but am curious to see if any of you have used it and if you are happy with it. This bottle of detergent was twice as big as the standard Dreft size and four dollars cheaper. At that price, I thought it was definitely worth a try. Who knows, maybe her clothes will also start to smell a little better too. I do have to say that I also own the Dreft stain remover and that works great, I won't be parting with that anytime soon. It has come through for me in my attempts to get out several blow outs!!! I may even start to use it on our clothes. It's that good and worth the money.

Moms Who Rock

Our friend Christine hosted a "Rock Band" themed birthday party this weekend for her husband Jarrod. Jeff and I had such a blast!!! It was one the first adult only parties we have attended since the baby was born and it was nice to get out of the house for a little adult mingling and adult beverages!!!!! I also had my first glass of wine in about a year which was heaven.

I have played Guitar Hero before but never in a crazy and fun competition as this! We all split up into teams of three and played our heart out. Unfortunately, Jeff and I had to leave the party early to relieve his parents of their babysitting duties so I never did find out who won.

I also had a great time catching up with my new friend and fellow blogger Heather. Heather and I met at Christine and Jarrod's clam bake this past fall. We were both pregnant with our little girls and both in our third trimesters. Needless to say, we had a lot in common and were the only sober ones at the clam bake.

Heather getting in a practice round on the drums:

Check out my guitar playing skillz!!!! I am the one in the back left corner. You can't really tell from the video but Christine, our drummer, is six months pregnant. I bet that baby was rockin!

The competiton was fierce!

Jeff and I were both pretty tired when we got home. I knew it was only a matter of time before Jillian woke up and would be looking for something to eat. Luckily for me, she slept until 4am!!! I was still pretty tired but thankful for at least a few hours of consistent sleep. I heard Jillian crying again at 7:30 and dragged myself out of bed to go get her. I was too tired to feed her in the glider, so I brought her back to bed with us and nursed her there. After she was done, I placed her inbetween Jeff and I and the three of us napped until 10:30! I just love family nap time.

The Pink Bumbo

I have always thought that babies look so cute all propped up in a Bumbo seat. Who doesn't love a little baby who can barely hold their head up all squished into a colorful foam seat? When it was time for me to register for my little girls baby items, I couldn't wait to put the Bumbo on my list. I actually thought for a moment about registering for the neutral green one, but who was I kidding? The pink one was just way too cute to pass up. I apologize in advance to my future sons who may inherit the pink Bumbo next.

The pink Bumbo has been sitting in Jillian's closet untouched ever since my shower back in October. When I came across it last week, it dawned on me that she may finally be ready to use it!!!! I got it out, all excited to finally see my sweet baby girls chubby legs all folded into the bottom of the seat. As soon as I placed her in the seat, she started screaming! Apparently I was more ready for it than she was. So back into the closet it went.

So I thought I would try it again tonight to see what would happen. Success! Not for long though, she looked so uncomfortable and kept giving me the "Mom, why are you doing this to me?" face. I was able to snap a few pictures though before the melt down ensued!!!

Look at me, I am such a big girl!

Maybe if Daddy plays with my nose, I won't feel so squished!

Come on! What are you trying to do to me?

OK, that is a little better, I suppose...

or not....

Maybe a kiss from Daddy will make it all better

Nope! Daddy take me out now!

Miss Kicky

One of the handful of nicknames I have affectionatly given to Jillian is "Miss Kicky". This girl just loves to kick her legs!!!! I have a heck of a time trying to keep socks on this girl because her legs are always flailing about. Anytime Jeff and I eat together at the kitchen table, we always put Jillian in her bouncer next to us. She just loves to hang out with us while we eat as you can see!!!!

Our builder is participating in the 2010 Cleveland Parade of Homes. The model home they have selected to represent their work also happens to be in our neighborhood. Needless to say, I was`quite excited to check it out. I have not had the opportunity to take a look at the new spec home ever since Jillian was born and have been dying to take a peek at the decor. I was only able to snap a few photos since I had left my camera at home, however, I think my new cell phone took some pretty decent pictures.

The lighting is a little blurry, but the chandelier in the half bath is so cute!

I love the brown and blue decor in the dining room:

The mantel decor:

I really love the drapes that they used in the great room. I found them at Bed Bath and Beyond and am thinking of buying them in red for our great room. Yes, I am still undecided on what to do with this room. Good thing I haven't committed to anything just yet!!! One of theses days I will figure it out.

Cute drapes:

Look at the grommets!

A detailed look at the drapes:

And the same drapes in red which I think would look great in our great room:

I am the Blog of the Week

I am so flattered that my friend Melissa over at Melissa's Heart and Home has featured me as her blog this week. I can honestly say that Melissa was on my first bloggy friends. She has the most beautiful home and decorates it so beautifully! We also share the love of shopping for home decor at Kirklands! Back when I would write a lot about my struggles with our infertility and miscarriages, Melissa would always leave me the sweetest comments to cheer me up. They were always so appreciated during such a difficult time. Thank you Melissa for being such supportive friend.

Week 16 Milestones

Once my baby girl started to feel better this week, she started to develop and change right before my eyes. I am in such awe of all the little milestones she has reached this week. First, she let out her first giggle yesterday. Diaper changing time is usually a fun time between Jillian and I where I will smother her with kisses all over her face and belly. I can usually get the biggest smiles out of her when I do this. I will kiss one side of her face until she turns towards me and then I will kiss the other side, and she will turn her face the other way. I always tell her that I giving her "Smooches". I can always get a sweet smile out of her when I start to ask her if she wants a smooch from Mommy. She knows whats coming after that! While I was doing this she let out the sweetest little giggle. I couldn't believe it. I was so excited. I thought maybe for a second I had imagined it, but she did it again once the smooch fest had ensued. I can't wait for her to do it again!!!! Trust me, I have been doing everything I can to provoke more giggles but none so far today.

Jillian has also learned to grab all of the rings on her bouncy seat, especially the all important middle one that actually plays music when pulled. Until recently, they were too high for her little hands to reach them. All she could really do was kick her legs and they would just wiggle in front of her. I would always pull the one in the middle because it would play music for her. While Jeff and I were eating dinner on Tuesday, Jillian sat on the floor next to us in her bouncey seat. This is typically where she sits during dinner time, the bouncer entertains her while Jeff and I can actually have a meal together. As we were eating, all of a sudden the music began to play and Jillian kicked her little feet like crazy. Jeff and I just looked at each other in disbelief and started to clap for her. She actually looked proud of herself!!!

My girl has also started to roll on to her side. She started to do this at night while watching her Fisher Price Aquarium. I was sitting in her glider folding her laundry and heard feet kicking the rails of her crib. I looked up and saw Jillian on her side trying to roll towards the aquarium. She also likes to grab her feet lately which also rounds out her back for an even easier position to roll around in. I just can't get over how much she has changed in just one week. I feel like I have to write every thing down as soon as they happen or I am going to forget about all of the new and exciting changes in her life. She is really developing such an adorable little personality. It's hard to believe she is no longer a new born baby and is turning into a little person right before my eyes.

Jillian has also added a few new fun toys to her collection recently. The ever so famous 'Sophie' which she LOVES to chomp on

and the Winkle. We were strolling through the baby toy aisle at Babies R Us this week and I recalled reading about a Winkle in one of my favorite Mommy blogs. So I decided to hand it to her to see what she did. She grabbed it and immediately started to stick the little colored tubes in her mouth. I was sold, plus, I don't think anyone would want me putting it back on the shelf after she drooled all over it. Let's just hope no other Mom did that to this particular Winkle!

Friday is my day at home with Jillian, I am hoping for more giggles from my precious girl!!!
