A Little of This...A Little of That

Hello friends and Happy Monday!!! Ever feel like you have so many thoughts rolling around in your head and you just don't know where to begin to get them organized? I am having one of those days, thus, my random post to jot them all down.
Life has been pretty crazy lately, I feel like I am in constant "catch up mode" instead of just enjoying the ride. It all started in April when I was sick and in bed for three weeks. I am finally caught up at work and still feel like I am getting caught up on personal stuff. You should see my to-do lists! Yikes! Hopefully life will slow down here soon.

One thing keeping us busy this past month is showing our house to prospective buyers. No, our house is not for sale, however, our builder has actually been doing quite well lately and business is picking up. Since they are still in the process of building homes in our neighborhood, a sales center sits in the entrance of our development to welcome perspective buyers. The sales representative, Chris, has contacted us three times this month to see if we would be interested in showing our home to families interested in our floor plan. I love meeting potential neighbors and, of course, to help our builder sell homes. It's been fun getting to know the families who are interested in building in our development. It has also kept me motivated to keep my house relatively clean!  I really hope all three families decide to build, they were all so nice and it was so much fun showing them our home.

I attended my first Cleveland area Blogging event yesterday at Legacy Village. Legacy Village is one of Cleveland's most popular shopping and dining establishments.  It's all outdoors and is one of my favorite places to shop, especially in the warmer weather months.  I had such a wonderful time and met so many talented Cleveland Bloggers.  I had gotten to know a few of them already through their blogs and on Twitter.  It was nice to have the opportunity to finally meet several of them in real life!  I plan on writing up a blog post just on my experience.

Isn't this picture of Jillian so cute?  I think she looks so grown up here!!  Where is my baby girl? Jeff and I tackled a huge to do list this weekend just by going to Toys R Us.  We had several items that we have been wanting to return and just couldn't find the time to do it.  It was nice to finally get this out of the way over the weekend.  I also wanted to buy Jillian some new toys.  I feel like she is already growing out of several of the toys she received for her Birthday and Christmas.  I also feel like she bores easily with her toys.  Lately, she likes following me around the house and is more curious about what I am doing and barely touches her toys.  Anyone else experiencing this with your little ones?  Do you rotate toys?  Buy a few toys at a time?  I would also love to hear what toys your one and two years old are loving right now.  I felt like I just wandered around Toys R Us for an hour, not really sure what to buy her.

I changed up my blog design a bit this weekend.  I added some green to the design and removed some of the pink.  I also changed a few fonts and swapped out my header to one with pictures.  Thoughts?  I have really enjoyed teaching myself HTML and blog design.  I feel like I am learning more and more every day. I would love to hear your feedback and what you think.

I hope you all had a great weekend!

  1. Like your new layout.

    Congrats on the blogging fun.

And yes, Liza follows me around, too. Household products are so much more interesting.

  2. Your blog looks great. My kids are older, but I will tell you that the typical toys were rarely used. They really loved the "realistic" stuff like a kitchen, pretend food, dress up stuff, artsy stuff.

  3. My Nate just turned one in April and most of his toys just get dumped on the floor. But- he did get a collapsible tunnel that he LOVES. We don't keep it out all the time, but when we do get it out he plays with it for around 30 minutes before losing interest. He also likes toys like really simple shape sorters right now; but who knows how long that will last :)

  4. I just read your comments!

Next time you are in the area let me know!!! I'm only 25 minutes from ikea and go all the time! we could meet up there and have a little blogger get together!

  5. Leah is the same way, she rarely plays with toys. I have bought a few new things in the last few months but she is more interested in the tupperware cabinet (mostly taking everything out and climbing in, ha!)! And now that the weather is nicer she just loves going outside on walks and being able to explore!

  6. My daughter who is the same age as Jillian loves mega blocks and puzzles (the wooden ones, like Melissa & Doug)

  7. Thanks for your nice comment on our blog!!!

Your daughter is way too cute!!

  8. That picture of Jillian is SO cute! Don't you just wish we could see thought bubbles above our kids heads to know exactly what they're thinking when we see cute expressions like this?

  9. Hi Karen,
Your blog looks AMAZING, I love it! Jillian is absolutely adorable and I miss that age so much. I think it's so cute how she follows you around the house. I remember those days, too!

How exiting to go to a blogging event. I hope to go to one, one of these days!

Have a great day! XOXO ~Liz

  10. We definitely try to rotate toys and only keep a few out at a time. I've found that the more that are out, the less she actually plays with them and just throws them around. I do think that when kids first learn to walk, that's all they really want to do, so that's probably what she's into now! My 15 month old daughter loves her baby doll - feeding her and rocking her. She loves her doll stroller (which she actually broke by climbing into), shape sorts, stacking cups, and blocks. She also loves looking through books.

  11. Hey! found you at "relax & surf" blog hop! if youd like you should come check out my neck of the woods :) ( WE FOLLOW BACK! :)

  12. Jillian's adorable! She's not looking like a baby anymore.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment!
