Add a Pin It Button to Blog Posts

Thursday, January 12, 2012

Who isn't obsessed with Pinterest these days?  It seems that I have been using it for everything lately!  From planning to Jillian's 2nd birthday party to organizing my home in the new year, Pinterest was some how involved in the process.  How did we ever plan anything before without Pinterest?  With Pinterest gaining so much popularity I decided to add a 'Pin It' button on all of my posts to make them easier for myself, and for my readers, to Pin my ideas to their boards.

In just a few simple steps, you too can be 'Pinning' away your own blog posts in just a few minutes too!!

{How to Add a Pinterest Button to Blog Posts}

1. Go to your blogger account dashboard.  Click on Settings then Formatting.

2. Scroll down to the bottom of the Formatting page to Post Template Section and Paste the HTML code that you see below.  The Post Template section will repeat the HTML code that you paste in this area for every Blog Post that you publish.  I also have my Google Analytics code posted in this section as well which you are not able to see here.

Here is the actual HTML code that you will need to copy from my post into your Post Template box:

3. Save your changes. The next time you publish a blog post, the Pin It Button will appear at the bottom of your post.

Edited to Add: I am so excited you are all loving my 'Pin It' Button tutorial!!!  I have had several questions on the position of the button so I thought I would add some clarificaiton.  I added the HTML code in the code above to position the button in the center of m posts.  A few of you would like it to be Left Justified so it shows up on the left hand side of your posts.  To do this, when you copy and paste the code above, either remove the two codes or change them to say .  I believe either should work for you.  Good luck and let me know if you are using the button in your posts, I love hearing how much you are loving it!

Happy Pinning!!!

  11. Thanks for showing us how to do this. I already have a code in that box for 'my live signature' - do I just add this code in above the existing code so I have both the pinterest box and my signature at the end of the post?
