Hi there! I’m Karen behind Karen at Home blog. Karen At Home (once called A Day in the Life of Karen) began as a way for me to keep our friends and family in the loop while my husband, Jeff, and I began our life as newlyweds. In the Fall of 2006, we began our search for a new home and our journey in trying to start a family. I couldn't imagine a better way for me to document this fun and exciting time in our lives than by starting a blog.
After a year long house hunt, we decided to take the plunge in July 2007 and build our dream home in a master planned community. After a 5 month long building process, we moved into our beautiful new home in December 2007. Our house hunting journey was a fun and exciting time for us, although trying for a family....not so much!
After a three year struggle with infertility and numerous miscarriages, we were blessed with our daughter, Jillian, in December 2009. We were then blessed with our son, Nicholas, 27 months later in March 2012. Formerly a Corporate Accountant, I left my job when Nicholas was born to become a stay-at-home mom. I now enjoy a more flexible work schedule selling Thirty-One Gifts.
I have lived in Cleveland, Ohio my entire life and grew up cheering for the Cleveland Browns, Indians, Cavs and Ohio State. I love reading, cooking, organizing, decorating, exercising, shopping and Diet Dr Pepper. Life has changed a lot since those carefree days of newlywed life and I wouldn't change any of it!
My blog is about everything I love from Home Decor, DIY, and Recipes to Homemaking tips and our own family life. I am always looking for better ways to clean, organize and decorate our home. That is how Karen At Home...Homemaking Made Simple came to be. I love sharing my Homemaking, Organizing Decorating, Recipes and Mommy tips with you! My goal is to make your life just a little bit easier and a lot more inspired!
Don't be fooled though into thinking I am some sort of domestic goddess, most days are crazy and I am lucky if we change out of our pajamas before noon. Our house is a mess more often than not and I think it’s so funny how life can change so dramatically in just a few years. I don’t have all the answers and I’m trying to remember to laugh more when things get out of control.
God has blessed me in more ways than I can count and I will always be thankful for his blessings.
I love to answer your questions and am happy to do so any time!!! Please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
